Mastin Labs Pushed Portra Review
There are countless presets on the market. My personal favorite is Mastin Labs because it comes the closest to emulating real film. It's subtle and soft and allows for easy editing for 90% of my weddings. I will admit that every once in a while I wished I had a preset with a little more mood and character, but when I would go back and try older presets it never jived with my style. Recently Mastin Labs released Pushed Portra with the promise of looking like real pushed film and have all of the "moodiness without the mud". I did try the preset on individual photos here and there, but I didn't really get an idea of what it looked like until I edited my first full wedding using it. My examples are below. Overall I find them very moody and sometimes overly so. But this is perfect for what I want. I'm going to mostly stick to using Regular Portra and Fuji for my work, but for the weddings that need some moodiness and character Pushed Portra is perfect. If you are interested in buying any of the Mastin Labs packs then use these links. They are nice enough to give me a little something if you do.
